Listening Devices
A Poetry Collection
Poet James R. Dennis’s Listening Devices is a collection divided into four “quartets”, each based on a musical piece that sets the mood for that section. The work spins around the poetics of identity and all the ways in which we listen—or don’t—to each other, to ourselves, and to the universe. From the cover image, Guiseppe Moltini's 19th century painting of priest and penitent at confession, to the variety of vintage photographs inside, the richly imaged book has been called by reviewers “riveting ... a tactile and visual delight.”
